The Old English Sheepdog is a distinctively shaggy dog traditionally used for herding animals. Their shaggy gray and white coats are long and have a tendency to cover their face and eyes, which causes them to need an owner who will take care of their grooming needs. Fortunately, they don’t shed unless you brush their coat.
Old English Sheepdogs are uniquely built, standing lower at the shoulder than at the loin, and walk with the gait of a bear, their bottoms swaying from side to side as they walk. For this reason, they tend to look like they’re clowning around when they walk.
Their gentle nature and playful personality make them great family dogs. Although they tend to interact better with older children, they can be trained to get along well with younger kids as well.
